Member Success Stories: Hear What Our Members Say

Andrew, a member of Liberties, smiles proudly with his vanilla ice cream cone in hand
I just want to thank Liberties for helping me to believe in myself and for helping me to overcome so many things. Crystal, the Lead Staff, helps me to schedule and remember my appointments. Nancy, Emma, Judith, and Crystal have helped me make good decisions. Jim, the maintenance man, is the best. He listens and laughs at all my jokes. At Liberties they feed me really good food and I have met so many new friends here. They all help me stay focused on my mental recovery.

I first went to Liberties years ago when Susan, my counselor, referred me. I met Fran, the Director at that time, and I applied for a job from there.

I met Toni, who became a good friend and taught me how to be positive role model for those who suffer with physical or mental disabilities. They showed me how to take pride and stand tall with my differences.

I want to help others the way they helped me and to be an example for all those who have insecurities about their differences. I am grateful for the opportunity every chance I get to help.

With Fran's dedication and support, and some hard work on my part, I became a certified Peer Support Specialist. Additionally I have many friendships including Crystal, Andrew, Nancy, and Sandy.

These days, I am thankful to Nancy (Director) and Sandy (Lead Staff) at liberty for being there and being open for me to associate with others and with people who have similarities to myself.

Working with Kavonne for the last few years, we have encountered a lot of new journeys. Liberties by far has been the most positive place for Kavonne. They have provided a very welcoming atmosphere since day one.
To see the smile and excitement Kavonne has when he knows that he is going to have a day at Liberties is very fulfilling. He has been able to regain his socialization back. He has reached his goals of getting himself ready to attend Liberties.
He loves the staff and how they listen and help with anything he asks for. Liberties gives a safe, warm and loving environment. It is a place that cares and gives back so much. Nancy Werthmann has been a huge help with listening to concerns and strategies about Kavonne's progress.
